26 - 28th February 2007 Phil Archer, ICRA's CTO, to Speak at International Ratings Conference in Sydney, Australia

Phil Archer, ICRA's Chief Technical Officer, will be presenting a paper entitled 'Everyone Has an Opinion on the Web, Even the Experts' at this year's International Ratings Conference, to be held in Sydney, Australia. The three-day Conference, hosted by the Australian Government Classification Board, will provide opportunities to explore the impact of an increasingly global marketplace for film, games and other consumable entertainment media. The theme of the conference, 'Community Standards in a Borderless Marketplace,' focuses upon the challenges faced by regulators, policy makers, distributors, marketers and developers of a broad range of media content in an increasingly borderless world.

Phil's paper will cover the concept of self-labelling and the use of controlled vocabularies in translating these labels into useful advice across national, cultural and linguistic boundaries.

Phil Archer is a member of BBFC's Consultative Council.
