On the formation meeting, the Digital Opportunities Foundation presented the first results of an international expert survey. "In the past two months we talked with more than 80 experts from 18 European countries", said Professor Dr. Herbert Kubicek, the scientific director of the foundation. "Control by parents and teaching of media literacy are stated most frequently when talking about measures for protecting minors against inappropriate sexual content or violence on the Internet."
The appropriateness of technical solutions suitable to support parents and pedagogues will be the purpose of the project, which is funded by the European Commission in the framework of the Safer Internet Programme. The survey will be continued until the end of June. The Family Online Safety Institute is a Member of the Youth Protection Roundtable because we wish to contribute to and learn from others around Europe working in this area. The YPRT meeting in Leipzig certainly brought together a wide range of participants showing how internet safety is an issue that touches on every aspect of society.
