For the past 30 years, Stephen Balkam has had a wide range of leadership roles in the nonprofit sector in the both the US and UK.  He is currently the Founder and CEO of the Family Online Safety Institute (FOSI), an international, nonprofit organization headquartered in Washington, DC.  FOSI’s mission is to make the online world safer for kids and their families.  FOSI convenes the top thinkers and practitioners in government, industry and the nonprofit sectors to collaborate and innovate and to create a “culture of responsibility” in the online world.

For the past 25 years, David  has had a wide range of leadership roles in the technology and telecommunications sector. He is currently FOSI's Director for Europe, Middle East and Africa. Working with a growing FOSI membership, David also oversees the organizations web site, its Global Resource and Information Directory (GRID) and wider online strategy. David is based in the UK and is a member of the United Nations ITU Child Online Protection Working Group, the UK Council for Child Internet Safety (UKCCIS), Norton's Family Safety Advisory Council, as well as an active participant in wider European Commission initiatives.

Nancy Gifford arrives at the Family Online Safety Institute with a varied criminal and civil law background.  For the past two years, Nancy was an attorney for the Center for Medicare Advocacy, a non-profit law firm based in Connecticut.  In this role, Nancy represented individuals in Administrative Law Judge hearings and assisted in development and presentation of federal cases challenging Medicare policy.
