Special Projects Coordinator Family Online Safety Institute
Nancy Gifford arrives at the Family Online Safety Institute with a varied criminal and civil law background. For the past two years, Nancy was an attorney for the Center for Medicare Advocacy, a non-profit law firm based in Connecticut. In this role, Nancy represented individuals in Administrative Law Judge hearings and assisted in development and presentation of federal cases challenging Medicare policy.
From 1998 until 2003, Nancy served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut. During her tenure, Nancy prosecuted a wide variety of federal criminal cases, including crimes against children, such as child exploitation and the production, distribution and possession of child pornography. More recently, Nancy served as special counsel to the Internet Keep Safe Coalition (iKeepSafe) and as an advisory board member for iKeepsafe’s Generation Safe. Nancy has travelled throughout the U.S. speaking with law enforcement, school administrators, parents and students about internet safety and digital reputation.
Nancy was a federal law clerk for the Hon. Janet Bond Arterton, the Hon. Alvin W. Thompson and the Hon. Christopher F. Droney, United States District Judges. Nancy graduated cum laude from the University of New Hampshire and received her law degree cum laude from Boston University.
