Kingdom of Bahrain Leads Gulf’s Drive for Child Safety on the Internet

TRA announces conference in association with Family Online Safety Institute

Washington DC – December 14, 2009 - Yesterday, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of the Kingdom of Bahrain (TRA), in partnership with the Family Online Safety Institute, announced the Gulf regions first Internet Child Safety Conference. To be held from 18-20 January, 2010, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Manama in the Kingdom of Bahrain, the conference is open to anyone with an interest in the safety of children on the web, including Internet Service Providers, telephone companies, NGOs, charities, regulators, government departments and the public. The event aims to discuss global internet safety best practice and the key online child protection initiatives of the past few years, as well as investigating the suitability for implementation in the Kingdom and across the wider Middle East.

Facebook 'Friends' FOSI

Social networking giant joins the Family Online Safety Institute

Washington DC – December 7, 2009 - The Family Online Safety Institute (FOSI), a leading international nonprofit group dedicated to protecting kids on the Internet, today announced that social network giant, Facebook, will join the organization. Richard Allan, director of European public policy, will serve as the Facebook representative on the FOSI Board of Directors.

FOSI Signs Internet Safety Agreement with the Suzanne Mubarak Women’s International Peace Movement and the Egyptian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology

Landmark Memorandum of Understanding establishes collaborative partnership in family online safety

Sharm El-Shiekh, Egypt – November 18, 2009 - The Family Online Safety Institute (FOSI) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Suzanne Mubarak Women’s International Peace Movement and Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in the framework of the Cyber Peace Initiative. The landmark agreement was signed at the United Nations 4th Annual Internet Governance Forum (IGF) in Sharm El-Sheikh, in the presence of H.E Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak, the First Lady of Egypt, President and Founder of the Suzanne Mubarak Women’s International Peace Movement, and sets the scene for a collaborative partnership in family online safety in Egypt and around the world.

FOSI hosts world’s foremost online safety conference and exhibition

The conference convenes key players from the global Internet community to promote cyber citizenship and coordinate efforts to connect the next billion consumers safely and responsibly.
