Jill Nissen is Chief Intellectual Property and Policy Counsel at Ning, Inc. where she is responsible for all intellectual property matters as well as the architecture, implementation and on-going counsel related to all policy matters, such as privacy protection, DMCA, child online safety and illegal content.
Jill was previously a Senior Associate at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati in Palo Alto, where her practice focused on intellectual property, licensing and commercial transactions, with specialized expertise in Web 2.0, media, entertainment and technology law. Through her work at Wilson, Jill regularly advised Internet and media clients on content rights issues, copyright and DMCA issues, privacy protection in the digital age, online contracts and e-commerce.
Jill is also on the Board of Hands On Bay Area, a non-profit that creates, manages and leads volunteer projects that benefit more than 300 Bay Area nonprofit agencies, including Bay Area Food Banks, The Salvation Army, Ronald McDonald House, and the San Mateo County AIDS Program.
Jill holds a B.A. in political science from the University of California, Santa Barbara and a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, where she served as Articles Editor of the Law and Policy in International Business Journal.
