Edward is acting Deputy Chief Privacy Officer and Director of Sprint Nextel Legal Department’s Office of Privacy, where he provides privacy-related advice for internal attorneys and business clients.  He leads a team of attorneys and program managers that monitor federal and state privacy laws and industry best practices and advises Sprint’s business units on privacy risks and how to mitigate those risks.  This includes advising business units regarding privacy implications of various projects or products and developing internal and external policies that address privacy topics such as customer authentication, data use and security, Customer Proprietary Network Information regulations, direct marketing requirements, employee data issues, breach reporting and notification requirements, complaint investigation and response, behavioral advertising compliance, and government disclosure of information requirements.

Prior to joining Sprint, Edward was a communications attorney at Dow Lohnes, PLLC – a communications law firm in Washington, DC.  At Dow Lohnes, Edward provided legal support for the firm’s varied wireless, wireline and cable clients, where he focused on clients’ FCC regulatory obligations. 

Edward attended the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts where he received a Bachelor of Arts in political science, and is a graduate of Catholic University’s Columbus School of Law in Washington, DC.
