June 18, 2008

WASHINGTON - June 19, 2008 The Family Online Safety Institute (FOSI) today announced that Brent Olson, Assistant Vice President of Public Policy, Emerging Services and Technologies at AT&T, will become the next chair of the FOSI Board of Directors. Online safety is a priority issue for AT&T and it has been a member of the international, non-profit organization for three years.

"We welcome Brent and his experience with the nation's largest broadband and wireless provider to lead FOSI's Board of Directors," said Stephen Balkam, CEO of FOSI. "Online safety is no longer restricted to simple web surfing over a desktop or laptop computer, as kids today not only access the Internet through their cell phones, but now interact through the Internet via an increasing array of handheld devices, both wired and wireless. AT&T understands how online safety applies across this entire Internet experience and will help FOSI further its mission to make the online world safer for kids and families by identifying and promoting best practice, tools and methods in the field of online safety, that also respect free expression."

"I am honored to be given the opportunity to chair the FOSI Board during this exciting, yet challenging, time for advancing online safety issues and solutions," said Brent Olson. "Consistent with the FOSI philosophy, AT&T always strives to develop innovative tools for customers to ensure a safe and secure online experience for themselves and their families. By assuming this leadership role with FOSI and the Board of Directors, I look forward to helping to demonstrate industry commitment to advancing online safety while preserving free expression."

AT&T joins a high profile community of FOSI members, including AOL, British Telecom, Comcast, France Telecom, Google, Microsoft, Telmex and Verizon.
