WASHINGTON - The Family Online Safety Institute (FOSI) today announced that Time Warner Cable (NYSE: TWC), the third largest Internet service provider in the United States, has joined as a member and will have Fernando R. Laguarda, vice president of external affairs and policy counselor, serve on the FOSI Board of Directors. Time Warner Cable currently serves millions of customers in 28 states across the nation.

This year's theme "Think B4 U Post" aims to promote safer and more responsible use of online technology and mobile phones, especially amongst children and young people across the world.

WASHINGTON – The Family Online Safety Institute (FOSI) today congratulated award-winning producer Rachel Dretzin and Douglas Rushkoff on the FRONTLINE documentary "Digital Nation" set to air on PBS tonight. "Digital Nation" is a follow-up film to "Growing Up Online" that looks at how digital media has transformed every aspect of our culture, from how people learn to how they socialize to how they work.

December 14, 2009 - Yesterday, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of the Kingdom of Bahrain (TRA), in partnership with the Family Online Safety Institute, announced the Gulf regions first Internet Child Safety Conference. To be held from 18-20 January, 2010, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Manama in the Kingdom of Bahrain, the conference is open to anyone with an interest in the safety of children on the web, including Internet Service Providers, telephone companies, NGOs, charities, regulators, government departments and the public.

December 7, 2009 - The Family Online Safety Institute (FOSI), a leading international nonprofit group dedicated to protecting kids on the Internet, today announced that social network giant, Facebook, will join the organization. November 18, 2009 - The Family Online Safety Institute (FOSI) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Suzanne Mubarak Women’s International Peace Movement and Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in the framework of the Cyber Peace Initiative. The landmark agreement was signed at the United Nations 4th Annual Internet Governance Forum (IGF) in Sharm El-Sheikh, in the presence of H.E Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak, the First Lady of Egypt, President and Founder of the Suzanne Mubarak Women’s International Peace Movement, and sets the scene for a collaborative partnership in family online safety in Egypt and around the world.

Washington DC – November 4, 2009 - The Family Online Safety Institute (FOSI) will host the third annual online safety conference, Building a Culture of Responsibility: From Online Safety to Digital Citizenship in Washington, DC, beginning today to bring together leaders from government, industry, education and nonprofits to determine how to best encourage responsible use on the Internet. The conference convenes key players from the global Internet community to promote cyber citizenship and coordinate efforts to connect the next billion consumers safely and responsibly.

August 16, 2009 - The Family Online Safety Institute (FOSI) today hosted a conference in Paris sponsored by AT&T and France Telecom with online safety experts from across the globe to discuss Global Digital Citizenship: Encouraging Safe and Responsible Online Use. The conference’s timing was critical: As universal broadband access expands, industry and Internet users alike must adapt to meet new needs, especially those of developing countries.
