WASHINGTON - The Family Online Safety Institute (FOSI) today announced that Time Warner Cable (NYSE: TWC), the third largest Internet service provider in the United States, has joined as a member and will have Fernando R. Laguarda, vice president of external affairs and policy counselor, serve on the FOSI Board of Directors. Time Warner Cable currently serves millions of customers in 28 states across the nation.

This year's theme "Think B4 U Post" aims to promote safer and more responsible use of online technology and mobile phones, especially amongst children and young people across the world.

"Digital Nation" is a follow-up film to "Growing Up Online" that looks at how digital media has transformed every aspect of our culture, from how people learn to how they socialize to how they work.

December 14, 2009 - Yesterday, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of the Kingdom of Bahrain (TRA), in partnership with the Family Online Safety Institute, announced the Gulf regions first Internet Child Safety Conference. To be held from 18-20 January, 2010, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Manama in the Kingdom of Bahrain, the conference is open to anyone with an interest in the safety of children on the web, including Internet Service Providers, telephone companies, NGOs, charities, regulators, government departments and the public.

November 18, 2009 - The Family Online Safety Institute (FOSI) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Suzanne Mubarak Women’s International Peace Movement and Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in the framework of the Cyber Peace Initiative. The landmark agreement was signed at the United Nations 4th Annual Internet Governance Forum (IGF) in Sharm El-Sheikh, in the presence of H.E Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak, the First Lady of Egypt, President and Founder of the Suzanne Mubarak Women’s International Peace Movement, and sets the scene for a collaborative partnership in family online safety in Egypt and around the world.
