Why “A Platform for Good”?

Project Administrator, Family Online Safety Institute (FOSI)

Have you ever wondered why we picked the name A Platform for Good for our website? If you have, here’s the simple explanation: we think online safety and doing good should go mouse-in-hand.

Mouse-in-hand, you say? That’s right! For us, online safety and digital citizenship means more than knowing what “not to do” online. It also means using your devices responsibly by setting a positive tone for your (and others’) online interactions.

We think it’s time parents, teachers and teens had a place to not only learn important safety information but also have an opportunity to connect, share and do good.

CONNECT over ways technology can be used to help ourselves and others.

SHARE great stories and information.

DO GOOD by learning about great resources and volunteer opportunities.

Want to know more? Check out this interview from our CEO, Stephen Balkam, on Comcast Newsmakers. He details the thinking behind this project and explains what we really mean when we say “A Platform for Good.”
