Welcome to Good Digital Parenting

January 5, 2015

Welcome to our new Good Digital Parenting site! Our mission is to empower you to confidently navigate the online world with your kids. GDP was developed to provide you with what you need to make the best tech decisions for your family.

Good Digital Parenting has information, tools, news and advice all on one site so you can parent effectively online.

Our blog offers advice and encouragement from various perspectives including industry professionals, policy makers, parenting experts, educators, academics and even teens. Our bloggers will help you to gain perspective on the newest trends and advise you on digital parenting best practices.

Our toolkit allows you to download handy conversation starters including app tip sheets, digital citizenship flashcards, online safety contract cards and more so you can set your family’s technology rules and limits.

GDP videos include guidance on a wide range of topics like online dating apps, digital reputation, screen time management and the appropriate age to get your child their first cell phone. Our GDP video library also includes how-to-videos on family safety features and parental controls from Microsoft, Sprint and more.

GDP’s new and improved navigation will allow you to control the content you see on the site. Simply set the filters on the left with your children’s ages and the subject matter of interest to easily find the information most relevant to you and your family.

Each month we will highlight a theme that helps connect your family’s offline world to what’s new online. Some examples are Back to School Tech for Success in August; Holiday Tech Guide for December and Resolve to be Cybercivil in January. Our monthly themes will gather the latest and best advice we have to offer in one easy to find location.

Don’t have time to search for the latest tech news? Then sign up for our monthly emails and we will deliver our best content right to your inbox. You can also sign up to get text alerts to your cell phone. These alerts will include links to advice and support to help you talk with your kids about what they are doing online.

Our children have access to learn, explore and expand their horizons in ways we couldn’t imagine as kids. We know you want your family to be able to take advantage of the best the Internet has to offer. GDP is designed to help you feel comfortable in allowing your child access to the digital world and ensure that their online experience is safe, fun and secure.

GDP is a friendly and trusted space built for you to learn about the latest digital technologies, to encourage you to try what your kids are using and talk to your family about acting responsibly online.

Most importantly, we hope to help you understand that you don’t need to be a tech expert to parent in the digital age. You just need to apply your family values and goals to new technologies.

Get started with GDP today.
