Brittany Wenger is a sophomore at Duke University as an AB Duke Scholar. Her goal is to earn an MD-PhD so she can apply computer science to pediatric oncology. In 2012, Brittany won the grand prize at the Google Science Fair for her project, “Global Neural Network Cloud Service for Breast Cancer.” She also won multiple 1st place awards at Intel’s International Science Fair and earned 8th place at the Intel Science Talent Search as well as being named to Time Magazine’s 30 under 30.

Her Cloud4Cancer application has received international acclaim. In addition to breast cancer diagnostics, Cloud4Cancer has been extended to handle leukemia diagnostics based on genetic expression profiles. Not only can this detect aggressive cancers, but it can also recommend which proteins may be candidates for drug targeting. She has shared her research with many, including multiple TEDx talks, President Obama, and a congressional roundtable.
