Nevine Tewfik
Acting Director - Central Unit for Research, Studies and Strategic Planning, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT)
Nevine Tewfik was recently appointed as the Acting Director of Research, Studies and Strategic Planning at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology- Egypt. Ms. Tewfik’s portfolio includes coordination the formulation of the Ministry’s Strategy for 2012- 2017 with relevant stakeholders, and managing a number of programs and initiatives including; MCIT’s Internet Safety Project, and Egypt’s Green ICT program.
For the past four years, Ms. Tewfik’s work revolved around the development and dissemination of both projects in Egypt and reaching out to the region, as well as engaging Egypt actively in the international dialogue on the subjects. Ms. Tewfik represented the projects at related conferences including the third, fourth and fifth rounds of IGF, as well as at a number of OECD meetings. Ms. Tewfik is also member of the ITU COP initiative, Egypt’s representative at the ITU WG- CP, member of the Child on line Protection Dynamic Coalition and the Dynamic Coalition on Climate Change.
Prior to that, Ms. Tewfik was Deputy Director of International Relations and General Manager of the European Cooperation Department. Ms. Tewfik's portfolio included coordinating the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology’s relations with numerous international organizations. She has also been involved in formulating Egypt's Information Society White Paper. Ms. Tewfik has represented Egypt in a number of international forums and conferences, including the World Summit on The Information Society. Her field of expertise is oriented towards ICT4D, child online safety, green ICT, in addition to strategic writing, policy formulation and political analysis.
