First Assistant Secretary, Digital Strategy Division, Australian Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy
Richard has more than 15 years of experience working on communications and national security public policy issues.
Richard Windeyer is currently First Assistant Secretary, Digital Strategy Division within the Australian Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy (DBCDE). Prior to this position, he was Principle Adviser in DBCDE working on the development of Australia’s National Broadband Network policy. Richard’s division is responsible for advising government on digital economy policy, in particular how business and government can use the NBN to improve productivity. The division is also responsible for cyber safety and cyber security policy and awareness raising and the implications of convergence of media and telecommunications.
Richard has also worked on national security policy, first on aviation security policy in the Department of Transport, and then on homeland security in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.
